In the winter of 2012, I was approached to see if I had any interest in contributing to the launch of a brand new endeavour in Goshen: A contemporary Shakespearian Theatre group. The idea intrigued me, as did working with this talented group of artists and entrepreneurs.
There are a multitude of challenges with start-ups, but there is often a lot of room for experimentation as well, which makes it exciting. For me, the initial challenge was to come up with a logo, in the absence of a brand or identity. It should be noted that a logo identifies a company or product via the use of a mark, flag, symbol or signature. I wasn’t necessarily looking to sell the company directly or explicitly describe it, though certainly those would be bonuses.
As many artists or designers will tell you, there are some projects that are painstaking in their development. Thankfully, this was one where an idea immediately came to me, and also, thankfully, it was very well received. Here are some of the initial sketches.
And here is a look at the final product.
