Kendall Pictures is an award winning production company consisting of multi-talented power couple David and Carrie Lee, as well as their partner Stephen Withers. Kendall Pictures creates varied projects, whether it’s developing original independent media or working with corporate clients. While all of the aspects of film making are important, Kendall Pictures emphasizes the story as the heart of the product, and considers collaboration necessary in order to bring it to life.
The challenge issued from Kendall Pictures was to come up with an updated, more modern identity that encompassed the writing and film components of their work. As a company that specializes in story telling, their logo should do the same. They also wanted to depart from some of the past tendencies the company had in terms of visual style and color, in order to truly breathe new life into what they do.
The film industry is rich with symbols and images that are highly recognizable, and right from the start, several ideas came to mind with how to incorporate some of these images into type. These included variations on cameras, typewriters, film, pens, pencils, quills etc.
The most gratifying step however, was near the end of the process. True to the values of R3 Design and Kendall Pictures, the last step was a hands on collaboration as final edits were done all together, with a lot of hmms, sighs, oohs and aahs as the final product emerged.
